Meet Our Interim Pastor
We are blessed to welcome the Reverend Dr. Lavern Witherspoon as our Interim Pastor, who will officially take office on November 1, 2026 and faithfully guide our congregation until a new pastor is called.

Rev. Dr. Lavern Witherspoon
Taking office November 1, 2026
A native of Kingstree, South Carolina, Dr. Witherspoon has dedicated more than five decades to faithful ministry. Called to preach in 1973, he served throughout the Seventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church before retiring in November 2024 after 51 years of ministry at Butler Chapel AME Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
He earned a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., a Master of Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, and a Bachelor of Arts from Baptist College in Charleston. His distinguished service includes roles as an Army Reserve Chaplain, Emergency Room and Critical Care Chaplain at Richland Memorial Hospital, Chaplain and Instructor at Allen University, and leadership within the Prince Hall Masonic family. He is married to the former Julia Elaine Moton, and together they have two adult children and three grandchildren.
